Jane Eyre is a Cyborg
Don't you hate it when all you want to do is sleep but you know you HAVE to write or you won't get it right in the morning?
“I want to be Bobby’s girl, that’s the most important thing to me.” – Marcie Blane
“There are a lot of guys around. I gotta find somebody I trust to keep an eye on her.” – Fonzie
I had that orange in my
hand at the grocery
store when that cyborg
started preach-poaching
for listeners. She’s got
an outdated button and
hair-do and her voice speaks
without her command it
seems. She says
My is my
concern- my friend my lover
my father my mother my
dog my cat my guy my girl.
She’s got eyes like robes
that shoppers like to look
away from and she’s got a
mind like a pile of torn
notes for a test you never
took. She says it’s a civil
possession, and they tell her
to keep it down, or they
ask her: Why do you harp
on a war you’ve already won?
A line in a play. A
Barbie doll. Why are you
afraid? This is a different world.
She says, I know the world has
changed. I’m afraid that
people never really do. She says men
are like government: that we
give up our freedoms to
them in exchange for my
angel my love my sweet the orange
is probably bruised anyway.

wow do I love this! I was going to tell you the lines I liked, but I would have had to quote the whole thing >< I do especially love it when you compare men to the government, though =]

Thanks! Yeah, I was thinking about that whole Rousseau thing about the social contract where we give up freedoms to government in exchange for protection (Civics class is getting to me...) and also about how I wish people still called girls "angels," like in the 50s, and how we got that in exchange for all the freedoms we didn't really have back then.
