Paper Airplanes
“Paper Airplanes”
When I saw my grandma break
Down in tears when you stole
Our cousin’s tortilla chip bag out of his hand,
It was a Titanic and The Notebook
Movie marathon in my
Brain. Sending sticky notes to my
Eyes to hold the flood gates. Don’t
Let your sisters see.
And when I saw his face become
A week old balloon elephant losing
Air from a hole in its back right leg
Left by an angry poacher dressed in
Red,
My windows showed me images of
“Insert sad image here” that I
Didn’t want
To see.
I hope you found the
Paper airplanes. Color coordinated
Accordingly
To your rooms.

Re: Paper Airplanes
Cool poem! I like the use of sticky notes to keep the speaker from crying. I didn't like when you called the eyes windows, it seemed too cliche.
